Neon Parc is thrilled to present a screening program from 12th—29th April of three major film works by Jon Rafman, coinciding with the artists' solo exhibition ‘ɐɹqɐpɥǝʞ ɐɹʌɐ’ at Neon Parc Brunswick.

'Dream Journal 2016–2019' (2019) is a surrealist epic that explores the nature of dreams, their relationship to reality and the effects of technology on the human psyche. Weaving together a series of 3D animations bringing to life the internets dreams, the work is a nightmarish vision populated by bizarre creatures, futuristic landscapes and subconscious fantasies.

'Minor Daemon (Vol. 1)', (2022), presents a computer-generated fever-dream universe, drawing on the landscapes of online worlds to examine the interrelationship of technology and social consciousness. Set in a surreal dystopia, 'Minor Daemon (Vol. 1)' tells the story of two young men who share an extraordinary gift for virtual reality gaming that could secure their freedom as they journey through a Hieronymus Bosch-like hellscape.

Since 2008, Jon Rafman has travelled the planet while sitting at his desk, gathering images for his ongoing project ‘Nine Eyes of Google Street View’, (2008–present). The images, all captured anonymously by the spider-eyed ball atop a Google van, range from the haunting to the lyrical, compiling a fascinating array of incidental moments. Despite the specifics of time and location, each picture resonates with symbolic force, constructing an epic portrait of our bizarre world, observed by the detached gaze of an indifferent being.
